Redondo Beach Education
Foundation Raises $70,000
Press Release: 5.30.2006
The Redondo Beach Education Foundation
held a luncheon on May 3rd honoring the volunteers
that participated in the foundations now signature
event “Cruising Into Summer” held on March
25th at the Redondo Beach Performing Arts Center.
The volunteers were the first to hear their efforts
raised a record $70,000 on behalf of the public schools
of Redondo Beach.
The foundation had already raised
an estimated $40,000 towards their $160,000 annual
goal for the 2005-2006 school year.
There was a lot of anticipation prior
to the luncheon, which was sponsored by Whole Foods
Market since the amount raised had been kept under
wraps for weeks. “It was important to us that
the volunteers be the first to hear how much their
hard work and dedication had raised,” said Ondine
Fortune, RBEF President.
To add to the anticipation, prizes
were given to the volunteers who guessed how much
money was raised in the auctions and ticket sales.
Rania Zein, RBEF Vice-President and
Auction Chair said, “I am so thankful to our
parent volunteers for their commitment and support,
they are what made “Cruising Into Summer”
such a success.” Fortune adds, “Our community
has really responded to this event, it is a great
opportunity to have fun and give to the schools at
the same time”
